Castelle: Materials, Configurations, Durability & Warranty
Castelle is one of the few outdoor lines we carry that publishes a genuine commercial warranty alongside its residential one. That makes it a real option for hospitality work — but the two warranties are not close to each other, and the difference is not a footnote. On the frame alone it is ten years. Castelle publishes them on separate parts of its site; we have put them side by side, because that is the comparison a specifier actually needs.

Residential versus commercial warranty — what actually changes?
| Component | Residential use | Commercial use | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminium frame (extruded and cast) | 15 years | 5 years | 10 years |
| Frame finish | 5 years | 5 years | None — the finish term is the same either way |
| Fabric | 5 years against colour fading and loss of strength | 1 year | 4 years |
| Cushion craftsmanship | 2 years — stitching, zippers, foam, cording | 1 year | 1 year |
| Slings | Covered under the cushion craftsmanship term | 1 year | — |
| Umbrellas | 2 years against manufacturing defects | 1 year | 1 year |
| Fire pit burners | 2 years against manufacturing defects | Confirm per project | — |
| Solar lamp components | 2 years limited | Confirm per project | — |
The practical reading: Castelle's frame at 5 years commercial still outlasts most outdoor lines' contract terms, and the finish is the same 5 years whichever way the piece is used. What compresses hardest commercially is the soft goods — fabric drops from 5 years to 1. On a property that means budgeting cushion and sling replacement as an operating cost from year two, not treating it as a warranty question.
Product and material eligibility still has to be validated at order level. A hospitality positioning on a collection page is marketing; the warranty term is what a claim is assessed against.
What is excluded — and which exclusions actually bite?
Castelle's exclusions are specific, and several of them describe things that happen routinely on a real property rather than edge cases.
| Exclusion | Why it matters in practice |
|---|---|
| Sunscreen and lotion residues | The most common cause of poolside cushion damage there is. Not covered. Specify darker fabrics and plan a wash schedule. |
| Hard-water stains | Sprinkler overspray and pool splash on frames. Not covered. |
| Chemical spills | Includes pool chemistry. Site the furniture away from the chemical store. |
| Sub-freezing exposure | Decides winter storage policy on any seasonal property. |
| Improper assembly | Who assembles the furniture on site becomes a warranty question, not just a labour line. |
| Customer's own material (COM) | COM is expressly excluded from the fabric and cushion warranty. If a client insists on their own fabric on a Castelle piece, they are giving up that coverage — put it in writing before the order. |
| Burns, pet damage, stains, cuts | Ordinary use damage, not defects. |
| Glass cracking | Tempered tops are not warranted against breakage. |
| Colour and texture variation | Natural variation between production runs — relevant when a property re-orders to match. |
| Acts of nature, misuse, abuse, concealed shipping damage | Concealed damage is why the delivery inspection process matters. See delivery readiness. |
Three cleaning prohibitions from Castelle's own terms: do not remove the fabric from cushions, do not use gas or electric power washers, and do not submerge cushions in water. Any one of those is a routine instinct for a maintenance crew, so they belong on the care card handed over with the furniture — not only in the warranty document.
What can be configured?
Castelle's programme is genuinely made-to-order rather than a colour choice at the end. Four families of decision, each with its own depth.
| Category | What can be chosen |
|---|---|
| Cushion seating | Hand-painted frame finishes; hundreds of fabric options from solids through prints; specialty pillow fabrics; coordinating buttons; cushion welts and pillow welts specified separately. |
| Sling seating | Airy mesh sling or soft padded sling; hand-painted frame finishes; front and back sling fabrics selected independently — a detail worth using deliberately when seating is viewed from both sides in a room. |
| Tables | Size, shape, finish and tabletop design. Tops in aluminium, tempered glass or cast design. |
| Fire pits | Size, shape, finish and tabletop design, on the same top options as tables. |
A naming trap worth knowing: Castelle's cast tops come in styles called faux wood, slate and live edge. These are design styles, not materials — a "slate" top is cast aluminium finished to read as slate. Never write them into a specification as actual wood or stone; a client who reads "slate" and receives aluminium has a legitimate complaint, and it is the specifier's wording that caused it.
Which finishes does Castelle name?
Castelle's materials page names Brushed Oak, Restoration Ivory and Platinum Tex among its finishes, alongside luxury accent, cushion and sling fabric families. Frame finishes on the configurable programme are hand-painted, and the current palette varies by collection — confirm on the selected product rather than relying on a count.
Where does Castelle fit on a hospitality project?
Castelle presents a hospitality collection with configurable outdoor solutions for hotels, restaurants, clubs and public spaces, spanning bar stools, lounge chairs, fire pits, dining sets, daybeds and chaise lounges.
Of the three outdoor lines we carry, Castelle sits in the middle for contract confidence: Telescope publishes an item-level contract marker and the deepest published finish test data; Castelle publishes a whole separate commercial warranty but leaves eligibility to be validated per order; Lloyd Flanders publishes a residential-only warranty despite marketing to hospitality. The cross-vendor comparison sets the three out together.
How do you get a Castelle question answered?
Send the collection, the piece, the finish and fabric direction, the property type, and whether the use is residential or commercial — that last one changes the warranty by up to ten years on the frame, so it comes first. Email operations@uptownsebastian.com or call 833-566-6526.
The controlling source is the official Castelle warranty; see also their materials, design-your-own and hospitality pages.
