Lloyd Flanders: Materials, Configurations, Durability & Warranty

Read this before you specify Lloyd Flanders into a hotel, clubhouse or senior-living project. Lloyd Flanders markets to hospitality and lists roughly thirty named installations including major luxury hotel brands and senior-living operators. Its published warranty, however, applies only to residential use. Those two facts sit on the same website and are easy to conflate. We would rather you hear it here than after a claim is refused.

That is not a reason to avoid the line — it is the most beautiful woven furniture we carry, and we stock 474 pieces of it. It is a reason to specify it with the warranty question answered in advance. Ask for a project review  |  Trade program — 25% off every product

What is the Lloyd Flanders warranty, exactly?

Component Term
Frames and finishes 3 years
Fabric and cushions 1 year
Stone tops 1 year

Coverage runs to the original owner and begins at the original retail purchase date. It covers defects in workmanship or materials. Where a defect is confirmed, Lloyd Flanders repairs or replaces the part or the whole product at its sole discretion, at no cost — and pays freight to and from the factory, which is unusually good and worth knowing when you are comparing service exposure across vendors. A factory inspection may be required.

Two conditions attach. Annual inspection is required, along with touch-up of minor damage, and the warranty is void where the furniture shows signs of abuse or neglect. Claims go through the retailer with dated proof of purchase and photographs — so keep the order record with the project file, not with the client's paperwork. All other warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are expressly disclaimed. The current terms are effective for purchases from 1 September 2014 onward.

What does "residential only" mean for a real project?

It means the published warranty does not follow the furniture into a commercial setting. It does not mean the furniture is fragile, and it does not mean it cannot be used commercially — properties do it, and Lloyd Flanders' own hospitality page shows where. It means the risk moves from the manufacturer to whoever specified it.

Three ways project teams handle it honestly:

Approach When it fits What to record
Specify it anyway, with the client informed in writing Low-traffic amenity spaces, model units, senior-living lounges where the look carries the room Written client acknowledgement that the manufacturer warranty is residential, and a replacement budget line
Ask us to seek written confirmation for the specific item and setting Where the client requires a warranty position before approving Whatever Lloyd Flanders confirms in writing — never a verbal assurance
Select a vendor that publishes contract terms instead High-traffic, high-turnover, or where a warranty is a contract requirement Telescope publishes item-level contract markers; Castelle publishes a separate commercial warranty

See the cross-vendor comparison for how the three lines differ on exactly this point, and the Telescope guide for what a genuine contract marker looks like.

Which materials does Lloyd Flanders build in?

Material Character Project note
Lloyd Loom The house material — woven all-weather fibre over a frame, the line's signature and its deepest customisation programme. Carries up to 20 finishes, the widest palette in the range.
Woven vinyl All-weather woven surface with a harder wearing face. The pragmatic choice where a woven look is wanted under heavier use.
Aluminium Frame material used across the Other Materials collections. Confirm the finish, since finish coverage is part of the 3-year frame term.
Teak Natural hardwood that silvers over time unless maintained. Weathering is a natural process, not a defect. Agree the client's expectation on colour before delivery.

What can be configured, and how far does the choice go?

Lloyd Flanders offers up to twenty Lloyd Loom finishes and over 100 fabrics, drawn from Sunbrella, Al Fresco and Sunbury among others, with the current selection shown in their Product Visualizer. Finish and fabric pairing changes the visual character of a collection substantially — the same frame reads coastal, traditional or contemporary depending on the pairing.

Counts move. Treat twenty and one hundred as the scale of the choice, not as a permanent catalogue, and confirm current availability on the selected product before a client approves a scheme.

Which collections are available?

Twenty-six, split by material family. Knowing the collection name is the fastest way for us to answer a question about a specific piece.

Lloyd Loom collections Other materials collections
All Seasons, Catalina, Frontier, Mandalay, Nantucket, Reflections, Summit, Universal Loom, Visions, Weekend Retreat Alpine, Charisma, Escape, Galloway, Grand Traverse, Largo, Low Country, Mackinac, Magnolia, Mesa, Milan, Pursuit, Riviera, Teak, Tobago, Universal Accessories

Across those collections the range covers roughly thirteen seating types — including sofas, sectionals, lounge chairs, rockers, swivels and dining chairs — seven table types including dining and fire tables, and accessories such as bar carts, swings and throw pillows.

How should the furniture be maintained?

The annual inspection is not advisory — it is a condition of the warranty. Inspect frames once a year, touch up minor damage before it spreads, and keep a record that it was done. For a property, that means writing it into the maintenance calendar at handover, because a claim in year two will be assessed against it.

Material-specific cleaning matters too: a method appropriate to woven vinyl is not automatically right for Lloyd Loom or teak. See the material-aware care guidance before using any cleaner or pressure washer.

What should you send us to get a straight answer?

The collection name, the specific piece, the finish and fabric under consideration, the property type, and whether the use is residential or commercial. That last one determines whether the published warranty applies at all, so we ask it first.
