Furniture Delivery: Curbside, Indoor Placement and Preparation

Free curbside delivery is included with every Uptown Sebastian order. Large furniture arrives by freight truck, signature required, with a call about 48 hours ahead; the driver leaves it on the pallet at your curb or driveway. Bringing it inside to a ground-level floor is a paid upgrade. Nothing is unboxed or assembled, and nothing goes up stairs.

Freight delivery is not parcel delivery, and the differences catch people out. Read this before your piece ships -- most of the preparation has to happen before the truck is on your street.

The three ways an order arrives

Front door -- parcel shipment

Smaller items travel as parcels and are left at your front entrance. No signature is required and no appointment is made.

Curbside -- freight shipment (included, no charge)

Large furniture travels by freight truck. This is the free option and it is what you get unless you upgrade.

  • The carrier calls roughly 48 hours ahead to arrange the delivery.
  • A signature is required, so someone has to be present.
  • The driver brings the item to the curb or driveway and leaves it on the pallet.
  • It is not unboxed, not carried inside, and not assembled.

Plan for the last point specifically: a sofa on a pallet at the end of your driveway is your responsibility from that moment. Arrange help before the delivery date, not on it.

Ground floor / indoor delivery (paid upgrade)

If you would rather not handle the piece yourself, you can pay to have the delivery team bring it inside to a ground-level floor with no stairs.

Two limits are worth stating plainly, because the upgrade is often assumed to be more than it is:

  • The item is still not unboxed and not assembled.
  • The upgrade fee is non-refundable.

If the room is upstairs, this upgrade will not get it there. Arrange your own help for that leg.

Preparing before the truck arrives

The single most valuable thing you can do is measure the route in -- and the time to do it is before you order, not the week of delivery.

  • Doorways -- width and height, including the depth stolen by the door itself and its hinges.
  • Hallways and turns -- a straight 36 in. hallway is easy; a 36 in. hallway with a 90-degree turn at the end is often not.
  • Stairwells -- width, headroom, and the landing where the piece has to pivot.
  • The final room -- and the corner it has to swing through to get there.
  • The approach -- can a full-size freight truck reach your curb? Narrow lanes, low branches, gated communities and steep driveways are worth flagging when the carrier calls.

Compare those figures against the dimensions listed in inches on the product page. If a piece will not fit, our shipping policy is direct about the consequence: outbound and return shipping charges plus a restocking fee are deducted. Given that made-to-order furniture is otherwise non-returnable, this is the measurement that protects you.

On the day itself: clear the path, take doors off hinges if it is going to be tight, keep pets shut away from an open front door, and have a knife and a bag ready for packaging you will be disposing of yourself.

Inspect before you sign

A signature is required, and it is worth the two minutes it costs to earn it. Walk around the piece while the driver is still there.

  • Visible damage? Refuse the delivery, and clearly note on the delivery document that the item is refused due to damage. Then contact us immediately.
  • Damage found after the truck has gone? Notify us within 48 hours with photographs and a detailed description.

That 48-hour window is the reason to unpack promptly rather than leaving a boxed sofa in the garage until the weekend. Made-to-order furniture is non-returnable and non-refundable except in the case of damage on delivery -- so the damage process is the protection that actually applies to you.

Timing

Delivery scheduling begins once your order is built. For made-to-order furniture that is an average of 8-10 weeks after you order; pillows and rugs ship in 48-72 hours and wall art in 6-9 working days. Full detail in lead times and the order process.

One address note: once an order has shipped, the shipping address cannot be changed or modified. If a move is coming, tell us before dispatch.

Common questions

Is delivery really free?

Curbside delivery is free on all continental USA orders, with no minimum. The indoor upgrade is the paid option.

Do you offer white-glove delivery with unpacking and assembly?

The upgrade we offer is ground-floor indoor placement. It does not include unboxing, assembly or stairs. If you need more than that, call 833-566-6526 before ordering so we can tell you honestly what is possible for your address.

Can I collect it myself?

Call us before ordering and we will tell you whether it is workable for that piece.

Will they take the packaging away?

No. Packaging removal is not part of curbside or the indoor upgrade -- plan to dispose of the pallet and boxes yourself.

What if nobody can be home?

Freight delivery requires a signature. When the carrier calls to arrange the appointment, agree a window someone can genuinely cover.
