The Austin Brown Benchmade Aniline Leather Club Chair is available at Uptown Sebastian with free shipping. Each piece spends days in assembly with joints that are both glued and screwed, upholstered in full-grain aniline leather that develops a patina over decades rather than showing wear after a few years.
The frame is kiln-dried solid hardwood, corner blocked and both glued and screwed by American craftsmen who hand-tie every one of the eight coil springs for even weight distribution. Down-feather fill seat cushions wrap a high-density foam core so the chair holds its shape season after season, and the full-aniline leather is dyed with a translucent, pigment-free process that lets the hide's natural grain show through. Shearling trim adds visual warmth without covering the leather's character.
You choose between full-aniline leather -- the highest-grade hides with scars and natural markings visible -- and semi-aniline leather, which carries a pigmented dye for more uniform color. Both come in Austin Brown, a cognac tone with a waxy, lightly distressed finish that reads casual and aged from day one. The cushion fill is standard: down-feather over foam, removable and zippered for maintenance.
Your chair is built to order in 8-10 weeks. Because it's hand-assembled by seasonal craftsmen who tie each spring and glue each joint individually, it's not warehoused and doesn't ship immediately. The solid wood frame and spring system carry a lifetime guarantee on structure and suspension. Once it arrives, assembly takes under 30 minutes -- usually just attaching the feet.
