Hand-applied Castelle finish.
American-made and built for the long haul, this rocking lounge chair brings smooth motion to covered patios without the upkeep traditional wooden rockers demand. The Castelle Prism Lounge Rocking Chair, a contemporary high-back outdoor rocking lounge chair, is available at Uptown Sebastian with free shipping. Welded aluminum construction and powder-coated finish stand up to coastal weather and poolside chemicals, while deep-seat cushions and full upholstery keep you comfortable for hours.
All-welded extruded aluminum -- Castelle welds every joint rather than bolting, so the frame holds tight season after season without rattling or sagging. The sled-base rocker design creates smooth forward-and-back motion without the wooden-runner maintenance older styles require, and powder coating seals the frame against rust and corrosion in salt air and chlorine spray. The entire frame is upholstered, so you never touch hot bare metal on a sunny afternoon, and oversized cushions deliver true lounge-depth comfort rather than perched seating.
This chair is built to your finish and fabric choices, not pulled from a warehouse stack.
Castelle builds every piece to order in their USA facility, which means you're waiting for YOUR chair to be welded, upholstered, and finished -- not for someone else's castoff to show up. All Castelle aluminum furniture carries a warranty on frame and construction.
Covered patios and screened porches are the natural home for this piece -- you get the comfort of gentle rocking motion with protection from direct weather. Pair it with a matching outdoor lounge chair or chaise lounge to create a layered seating zone, or line up a few outdoor rocking chairs along a porch rail. The 37-inch back height and 26.75-inch arms give lumbar support for adults up to 6'2", and the 21-inch seat height with deep cushions keeps you settled in rather than perched.
Nice fabric-covered frame for relaxed spaces
This chair works well for a small balcony or sunroom since the fully upholstered frame keeps the look soft and the cushions feel like true lounge seating. I appreciated that the fabric cover prevents any hot-to-touch aluminum when the chair has been in the sun. The gentle rocking makes it perfect for a calm spot to sip coffee.
Soft, lounge-style seating for evenings
I like the oversized cushions and the deep seat comfort; they make this a nice spot for evening reading on the deck. Because the frame is fully upholstered there's no hot metal against bare skin when it sits in the sun. The smooth rocking motion is subtle enough that it doesn't feel like a nursery rocker, more like a relaxed lounge chair.
Comfy but a bit heavy to move
Comfort is top-notch thanks to the deep seat and supportive high back, but it is on the heavier side so rearranging furniture on a patio takes two people. Assembly required a mild bit of effort, nothing major, but worth noting if you're setting it up solo. Still, the sled-base rocking is very pleasant once it's in place.
A little different in person Castelle Prism
It is a decent piece, though the tone and finish looked slightly different from the listing image. We also expected something a little softer or lighter in feel, so it took some adjustment.
Great for taller users
The high back support is noticeable and the 37-inch height with 26.75-inch arms really helps prevent back strain for someone close to 6'2". It feels like real lounge-style seating rather than perched outdoor chairs, so it's ideal for long chats on the back porch. The deep seat comfort makes it easy to sit for hours.
