Metal chairs left in the sun can scorch your legs before dinner even starts, but sling seating stays cool because air flows straight through the fabric instead of trapping heat against solid metal. The Castelle Prism Sling Dining Chair is a high-backed outdoor dining chair with a rust-resistant extruded aluminum frame and quick-drying sling upholstery, available at Uptown Sebastian with free shipping. At just over 25 inches wide and nearly 37 inches tall, it delivers the lumbar support and proper seat height you need for long meals outdoors without the mildew problems cushioned chairs invite.
How Is This Chair Actually Built?
It's handcrafted in the USA from extruded aluminum -- a continuous-forming process that creates consistent wall thickness and stronger joints than welded tube frames. The powder-coated finish is factory-applied to resist corrosion in coastal air and poolside splashes, and it won't need annual resealing or touch-ups the way painted metal does. The sling fabric stretches across the frame under tension, flexing with your weight to distribute pressure evenly across your back and seat while letting rain drain straight through instead of pooling on top.
What Can You Choose on This Piece?
You'll choose both the frame finish and the sling fabric when you order. Castelle offers multiple powder-coat colors for the aluminum frame, and you can pick from a range of sling fabrics in different colors and patterns to match your deck or pool furniture. The mildew-resistant fabric resists fading and handles sun exposure season after season, so you can customize the look without worrying about constant upkeep.
How Long Does It Take to Build?
This chair is built to order in 6-8 weeks from the day you place it. Because it's handcrafted in the States rather than pulled from a warehouse, you're getting a chair made specifically for you with the finishes you selected -- and that level of craft takes time. Once it ships, delivery to the continental USA is free.
Where Does This Chair Work Best?
This sling dining chair fits covered patios, poolside dining areas, and coastal decks where you need seating that won't rust out or trap moisture. The 18-inch seat height pairs correctly with standard
outdoor dining tables, and the breathable sling keeps you comfortable during long summer dinners without the soaked-cushion problem. Mix it with other pieces from our
outdoor dining chair collection or pair it with a full
outdoor dining set to outfit your whole space at once.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a sling chair?
- A sling chair uses stretched fabric suspended in a frame as the seating surface, providing support through tension while allowing air circulation and water drainage.
- Where is this chair made?
- It's handcrafted in the USA from extruded aluminum with powder-coated finishes applied at the factory.
- Can I return a made-to-order piece?
- Returnability follows the option you ordered, not how the piece was built. A size, finish or configuration shown as an option on this page can be returned within 30 days of delivery, subject to a 20% restocking fee -- whatever its build time. A specially requested size, or a piece made in your own material, is custom and is not returnable except on damage. Trade accounts have the restocking fee waived.
- Do outdoor dining chairs need cushions?
- Sling dining chairs don't require cushions because the tensioned fabric provides comfortable support while eliminating moisture buildup and mildew issues.
- What makes a chair commercial grade?
- Commercial grade chairs use extruded aluminum construction and reinforced joints that handle repeated daily use in high-traffic environments like restaurants and resorts.
- Will this chair rust in coastal environments?
- The powder-coated aluminum frame resists rust and corrosion in salt air and humid climates without requiring annual treatments or resealing.
